FOMO Solved

I think we all have some FOMO these days – Fear Of Missing Out.  We are experiencing FOMO because in large part we stay home and don’t see anyone, not even our close friends.  We have to really, at least for a while longer.  In a pandemic, not going, not seeing, not meeting up, not doing is the right thing.

But that doesn’t cure FOMO, does it?

So what can we do about FOMO?  Well, here’s something you can do.  The Littleton Museum has put together a virtual tour of the show that I am in.  Here’s the link:  https://www.littletongov.org/city-services/city-departments/museum/exhibits/colorado-abstracted

So you don’t have to suffer FOMO if you don’t want to leave your house.  You won’t miss out on one thing anyway; our Colorado Abstracted show.

If you do want to leave your house, the lovely folk at the Littleton Museum are super cautious and super socially distant.   You’ll be safe if you want to go in person.  The art is worth the trip.

Also virtually, the Littleton Museum is hosting a Facebook live artist talk for us on February 5 at 4 pm.  Here’s the link:

The Joy of Art is the Conversation

Beauty at Midnight

I was watching Ken Burn's series on Jazz the other day and was struck by something that Wynton Marsalis said.  He said that jazz is a conversation between musicians.  I was struck by the parallel to art.

Art is a conversation between the artist and her medium.  But art is also a conversation between the artist and her viewers. I WANT to converse with you all about my art, about the business of creating, about the joy of making something that someone else pays good, hard-earned money for.

The joy that I take in selling my art is not just because I like paying my mortgage.  No, the true Joy comes because by virtue of the sale (or by conversations) because I know from a sale or from a conversation that my art struck a chord with the viewer.  Someone somewhere loved that piece of Art and bought it so that they could look at it every day.  The critical conversation is between the viewer/owner and the art.

That conversation, my friends, is the Joy of Art.
