How I transitioned (from lawyer to artist) - Part 2
Part 2 of the continuing saga:
I started up practicing law again in Denver – or tried to. However, I knew not one single solitary person in Denver when I moved here.
As you might guess, I struggled with getting clients.
Eventually, I achieved a growing list of clients only to find that I didn’t really like practicing law anymore for a wide variety of reasons including the fact that lawyering is nightmarishly, stomach-churningly stressful.
I had forgotten the stress level.
I retired from law a second time.
The big question then became: What shall I do for a living? The practice of law had been good to me but in my mid-50’s I just couldn’t imagine doing nothing for the next 40 years.
I began to apply for jobs in the non-profit area, believing that my successful development director experience would be sufficient to land a job.
Not so.
No one would even interview me, not even for part-time jobs.
I think no one believed that an attorney wanted to work part-time for far less money than a lawyer could make.
I was out of luck.
I needed a new plan.
